Today’s
journey will take us to
Prince Edward Island
,
Canada
's smallest Province. Enroute a stop will be made in Pictou where
you will be given some time to explore this historic town before
boarding Northumberland Ferry that will carry us across the
Northumberland Strait to
Prince Edward Island
.
Upon arrival we make our way to
Souris
where you will visit Station VY2ZM – 2009 CW Contest winner. From
here we travel on to
Charlottetown
. After checking into your hotel you will have time to freshen up
and have dinner prior to attending a performance of “ANNE” at
the Confederation Centre.
August 10th – 12:00 PM
This
morning you will have some free time for shopping and have lunch.
At noon we board our coach and travel the beautiful
countryside to Cavendish and Green Gables ...
see the home where Lucy Maude Montgomery's beloved "Anne
of Green Gables" story is centered.
From here we travel a short distance to Red Sands Golf
Course, home of VY2RU station.
For those wishing, a round of golf is available.
Now it’s off to visit the Prince Edward Island Preserve
Factory where Bruce MacNaughton, attired in his kilt, will come on
board the Coach and greet his guests, and invite them in for a
sample of his preserves and herbal tea that he brews fresh for each
group.
It is getting to the time when we must cross the street to
the famous New Glasgow Lobster Supper ... this is an experience you
will long remember!
Those not caring for lobster may choose to have a hot roast
beef dinner, Digby Scallops or a cold ham and potato salad plate. (CB

August 11th – 8:00 AM
Time to bid
farewell to "The Isle of the Green", as you cross over on
the new link that opened on June 1st, 1997, known as THE
CONFEDERATION BRIDGE. Have
your cameras ready, as the view is spectacular from the Coach. A
stop will be made at
Gateway
Village
and Cavendish Figurines. From
here we cross
Confederation
Bridge
. This is the only fixed
link between
Prince Edward Island
and
Canada
. At just over 9 miles
it is the longest bridge in the world that spans frozen water.
After crossing the bridge continue homeward bound.
In Masstown, a stop will be made at the
Market, where you can purchase a snack and some homemade goodie
Continue on to
Halifax. (CB)
